Looking for a "Down Under" experience? Check out Oz Restaurant and Bar, the DC area's first authentic Australian restaurant. I was invited to visit Oz this past Sunday for brunch and really had a great time. I was greeted by cute koala bears hanging on tree branches, smiling staff members and a live band.
My best friend and I started off with ordering the pineapple penny mimosas. Oz offers a bottomless brunch, so if you are looking to get your brunch drinking on, this is the way to go! As we sipped our mimosas we admired the Australian decor.
We followed up by ordering the recommended starters WHICH WE LOVED!
The Avo Toast. Whole grain toast with avo mash, 6 minute egg, sriracha and cilantro.
The Chicken and Doughnuts. Ritz chicken and a sour cream doughnut with spicy bourbon maple syrup, and charred corn.
The Bagel & Eggs. A everything bagel with avocado, tomatoes, mushroom, bacon, cream cheese and spinach eggs.
We continued our brunch experience with an order of the pancakes which featured ricotta pancakes, honeycomb syrup, whip cream and fresh fruit and ABSOLUTELY adored the Brekki Burrito, which was overly filled with scrambled eggs, potatoes, tomato relish, spinach, cheddar cheese, bacon and a sweet chili sauce.
I was "full as a goog" (Getting my Aussie slang on lol)
After stuffing our faces, I had the pleasure of interviewing Eva, Oz's Assistant Manager.
Thanks so much for having us today Eva. How long has Oz been open?
Oz opened about a year and a half ago and was founded by Michael and Ashley Darby.
What are your busiest days?
Our busiest days are on the weekends, Saturday and Sunday.
Are there any plans for expansion?
This is the owner's first experience with opening a restaurant, so right now we are just focusing on this location in Arlington, but we may plan to expand and look into more locations in the future.
What is the Oz signature drink and dish?
Our Oz Painkiller is our signature drink and the Rack of Lamb is our best dish!
What are your 3 tips for success?
Consistency, good service and communication!
I really enjoyed Oz Restaurant and Bar and am looking forward to dining here again very soon!
